COMMEMORATION OF THE 7th ANNIVERSARY OF GATUMBA MASSACRE

Today tens of thousands of Banyamulenge people flock in various cities around the world to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the massacre of 160 Banyamulenge refugees by the negative forces of FNL Agatha Rwasa on August 13, 2004 in Burundi.
This Saturday, August 13, 2011, the Banyamulenge community of North America (United States & Canada) held the memorial in CYRACUSE (United States of America).
While others have organized other events in Europe, Rwanda, Burundi and elsewhere.
On the night of 13 to 14 August 2004, seven years to the day, Banyamulenge youth, old, moms, dads, and children from around the world, commemorate the slaughter of more than 160 Banyamulenge people and somewhat Babembe killed because of their proximity to the Banyamulenge refugees who were massacred, killed, shot, cut by machetes in the refugee camp of Gatumba in Burundi.
These refugees were abandoned by UNHCR, and became prey of hatred and xenophobic ideologies of Hutu extremists Burundians, Rwandans and Congolese against the Tutsis. These Banyamulenge refugees were massacred without any other cause other than simply beingTutsis.

These massacres were unfortunately supported and facilitated by certain Congolese and Burundian government authorities and remains in the dungeons of the two governments.
The perpetrators of these massacres are still in the Burundian and Congolese army unpunished and some of them often roam in areas around communities or Banyamulenge villages and others are still living nearby the scene of their crimes.
Members of the Banyamulenge community all require that the known authors of the massacre be brought to justice. What is even so sad is the fact that the Banyamulenge community resident in the DRC continues to face sporadic attacks, the systematic killings at the hands of extremist Hutus and Congolese. While the community was preparing to commemorate the genocide of Gatumba, a young son of Pastor Karubandika, a Munyamulenge from Rurambo has just been murdered by a group of armed bandits close to Uvira.
One day God will avenge this earth or in heaven.
